Peanut Butter & Chocolate Mug Cake

By 25th October 2017 No Comments

Peanut butter is an irresistible combination at any time of year, but there’s something about the month of October and Halloween that made us crave the flavours of chocolate and peanut butter together. We used a popular brand of peanut butter and chocolate sweets to decorate our finished cake, so you can tell where we took our inspiration from!

We used a Quite Big mug for this recipe; adjust quantities if you’re using a smaller or larger size. It was just enough for a large portion for one person, or, if you’re feeling generous, there’s enough for two people to share. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of hot chocolate. If you feel like going all out, top it with sweets like we did! The sweets add a nice crunchy texture, and we just loved how the colours looked against the white bone china and whipped cream.

Enjoy! If you try this recipe, we’d love to see your finished cake. Or if you switch it up with different ingredients and toppings, share your new creations with us, too. Find us on social: @msmugs or useĀ #MugMoments

Cook Time: 4 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 1

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Mug Cake

  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp hot chocolate powder
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp choc chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extra (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Peanut butter chocolate sweets (optional)

  1. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, hot chocolate powder and sugar) together.
  2. Melt the butter and add butter and milk to the dry ingredients and stir.
  3. Add in egg, peanut butter and vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Sprinkle choc chips into the mixture and stir to ensure even distribution throughout the cake.
  5. Microwave for 3 minutes (800w), checking after each minute to ensure cake doesn't rise over the rim of the mug.
  6. Remove and let stand for 1 minute. If your cake doesn't look fully cooked, return to microwave for a further 30 seconds. Repeat as necessary.
  7. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of hot chocolate powder (optional).
